I am a big fan of the Skippyjon Jones books.  I read this book to all my classes and we had a blast.

The Star Spangled Banner

Last week I've taught and reviewed the lyrics of The Star Spangled Banner.   As a review I found a Sing-A-Ma-Jig that sings the national anthem.  It was fun for the kids to squeeze his belly and listen to him sing the song.  I would have them stop in the middle of the song and then they had to finish the lyrics.  It was so much fun to listen to the kids laugh as the watched the Sing-A-Ma-Jig perform. It was also great to see the kids think through the lyrics and fill in the blanks.

Playing with Kindergarten

I had a fun time playing who took the cookie from the cookie jar with my kindergarten and 1st grade classes.  I found an example of the game on youtube.  It was great to assess which students could identify the beat.  It was also fun to see the kids perform in front of the class.
